Often people ask us about how to protect your energy at work. Many people know how to feed their Energy Field at home and protect their energy in their private space. But what do you do when you are at work, and let’s face it, you are at work… a lot.

Do you sometimes come home wondering why you are so tired when you feel like you didn’t do much? But, on the other hand, do you ever arrive at work in a good mood and are in a place of overwhelmed by lunch?

If something unsettling happened, you know what caused the feeling of discombobulation. You also know what to do because… it’s your job. How often does that tired and overwhelmed feeling happen when nothing significant is going on? How To Improve My Energy Field? 5 Fabulous Ways To Really Feel Better

It might sometimes feel like the life squeezes out of you, one meeting at a time. It might feel like you are getting beat up, but there is no one there to blame. Usually, the next thought is, “What the hell is wrong with me?” The next might be how to protect your Energy Field.

There may be times when you are speeding up and jittery. Other times it feels like you are heavy and walking through molasses. Either way, you just don’t feel like you. So how DO you protect your energy at work?

Why Am I So Tired?

Often the reason we are exhausted at the end of the day is not because of the “work” we are doing. Instead, it is because we get energetically overwhelmed and overstimulated by other people, situations, or even our own thoughts. How To Improve My Energy Field? 5 Fabulous Ways To Really Feel Better

Let’s face it; some people just make us tired. Some projects and tasks wear us down before we even get them started. That doesn’t make sense, except that it does. As energetic beings, we have to use what we call good “energy hygiene” to protect our energy at work.

We also have to fill ourselves back up. Your car needs a regular fill-up to get you where you want to go. So do you. You can’t give and give, do and do while doing nothing to fill your body and your Energy Field with Life Force.

So let’s talk about how to protect YOUR Energy Field from other people’s Energy Field. How do you do what you need to do and not get sucked into other people’s moods (or life)? How do you not get smacked by a project’s intensity or the workplace’s drama? Here’s 5 easy ways to know how to protect your energy at work.

How To Protect Your Energy At Work-Way #1: Recognize Your Signs.

There is a reason we say YOUR signs instead of THE signs. You have your own symptoms of your energy getting discombobulated. You may have ignored or explained them away, but we promise you have your own signs.

If you pay attention, you will realize there are times that you’re “off” and not on your game for no apparent reason. You feel tired for no reason. You fill agitated or jittery for no reason. This is an excellent place to start. How To Improve My Energy Field? 5 Fabulous Ways To Really Feel Better

So what does that look like and feel like for you? Get a piece of paper. At the top, write, “What are my signs that my energy is wonky?” Now, this is your list and only your list. Whatever you write down is your jam, but if you aren’t sure what you are looking for, here’s a list to get you started:

1.) I feel tired for no reason.

2.) I feel overwhelmed when there isn’t that much going on.

3.) I feel agitated beyond what fits the situation.

4.) I can’t keep my thoughts straight, or my ducks in a row.

5.) Everyone feels annoying to me.

6.) Everything feels big whether it is or not.

How To Protect Your Energy At Work-Way #2: Set Yourself Up To Succeed.

A good place to start is creating an environment that feels good to you energetically. Of course, only you know what that means, but give it some real intention and thought.

If you work in an office or a cubicle, what makes you smile? Surround yourself with colors that speak to you. Put things on the wall that remind you of your life outside this space. Display photos of those you love and places you enjoy. How To Improve My Energy Field? 5 Fabulous Ways To Really Feel Better

This feeds your Energy Field as you give energy to your work. For example, we once knew a woman who worked in a government department with rows of cubicles. All the surfaces were cold, hard, and impersonal. She liked what she did for a living, but this atmosphere was draining her dry.

Comfortable and positive group office setting

After asking permission, she unscrewed the fluorescent bulbs above her desk and brought in a floor lamp with a soft pink bulb. She brought a large plant from home and always had flowers on her desk. When stressed, she kept a bottle of medical-grade lavender in her drawer to put on her wrists. It helped center and calm her.

Although her workmates made fun of her “Zen Den,” it was always her little space where everyone wanted to gather. They eventually began making their own “better energy” spaces. It was fascinating how the energy of the entire place changed. How To Improve My Energy Field? 5 Fabulous Ways To Really Feel Better

But I Work From Home.

If you work from home, you ultimately control the space. But it’s easy to get careless with protecting that space. We recommend that you designate an area that is just for your work. Yes, the dining room table is handy, but you can quickly start feeling like you are eating at your desk every night. Even if it is tiny, make yourself a space that is your space to work. Create your own home office Zen Den.

What if you work in an open space, shared with others, like a retail store? See if you can adjust the music and put things in the room that will feel good to everyone, like uplifting sayings, and things that make you laugh.

But I Have No Control Over My Work Space.

What if you have no control over your space and work environment? Then go covert. Find something that feels energetically uplifting to wear. It could be your grandmother’s necklace, a reminder of your children, or something you bought while on a lovely vacation.

In many cultures, people wear a talisman. While considered an energetic tool, it can be anything that makes you feel comforted, warmed, rewarded, or just…better. Shhhhh…..no one has to know but you, and we won’t tell.

How To Protect Your Energy At Work-Way #3: Bubble Up.

This is an energy practice used over millennia in many different cultures. It is specifically putting a force field of energy around yourself. Yeh, it sounds sort of Star Trek-ish, but it’s a very real thing, and the steps are easy.

The most significant step is getting out of your head and doubting that this works. We could talk endless energy bubble stories, but for now, just humor us and try it. We promise (and we don’t make many promises). IT WORKS.

You can stand or sit, but many like to do this standing. If sitting, be sure your feet are on the ground or floor.

Put both hands on your heart. Then, begin taking slow, deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth like you are blowing out birthday candles.

Close your eyes and picture a light in your heart right under your hands. Then, allow that light to grow bigger and bigger with every breath.

Let that light drop down through the center of your body, organs, and hips.

Then let the ball of light split, going down each leg simultaneously. Then, finally, let the light go down down down into your feet.

Now let the light spiral into the ground, anchoring and grounding you. Once you feel solid, allow the light to surround you on all sides like a snow globe. Feel the light gathering above your head. This is how you protect your Energy Field at work.

Ok…Then What?

Now, with a deep breath, allow that light to drop down into your crown, head, and face.

Finally, let the ball of light drop back down into your heart where it started.

Think of someone, something, or some situation you are genuinely grateful for and say to yourself with true thankfulness, “Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.”

Gratitude is one of the highest vibrations of the human Energy Field. So it works like a lovely closure and power booster.

You can add any spiritual practice that feels authentic and useful to you. How To Improve My Energy Field? 5 Fabulous Ways To Really Feel Better

How To Protect Your Energy At Work-Way #4: Learn The Beauty of Boundaries And When To Say “No.”

One of the biggest energy stealers is allowing others to talk you into things that aren’t yours to fix or are something you just don’t want to do.

Have you ever let someone manipulate you into saying, “Sure, I can do that,” when you meant to say, “Nope, Noppity Nope, Nope, No”? Unfortunately, it happens to all of us. But you have some boundary issues if you always take on more than your share.  How To Improve My Energy Field? 5 Fabulous Ways To Really Feel Better

You can have good boundaries and still be a kind, pleasant and cool person. Be clear on what you want and what you would prefer to avoid. These boundaries can show up in a lot of ways. For example, energetic boundaries can decline physical requests like, “I’m sorry, but I can’t take your shift tonight.”

There can also be mental boundaries as you listen to the same long story for the third time and politely excuse yourself, “Sorry, got to run….” Sometimes boundaries can be emotional in nature, so be aware of those who try to dump on you or take emotions out on you that have nothing to do with you.

Good Energy Hygiene.

As we mentioned before, good energy hygiene is a great way to protect your energy at work. Know when to say “No.” Don’t wait until your answer is “Hell to the No!!” Be genuine and be kind, but don’t let people take advantage of your energy or dump their emotions and mental storms on you.

It’s ok to redirect or change the subject. It’s ok to excuse yourself or make an extra trip to the bathroom.

You aren’t being unkind. You are being a responsible, healthy person with good boundaries. Those boundaries will protect your sanity and your Energy Field.

Good quality oils are bottled straight from the herbs and plants they come from. They each have their own unique qualities. Keeping a small bottle in your desk or pocket is easy. Again, there are libraries of information on essential oils and their many uses. Some of our favorites are:

Lavender for grounding and soothing your Energy Field.

Citrus (orange, grapefruit, lemon) for uplifting and putting you in a good mood.

Lavender-the buds work just like oils but can be put in a bowl in your workspace for a lovely aroma of peacefulness.

Rosemary-Those tiny trees you see in the grocery at Christmas are actually Rosemary plants. They are lovely for your workspace. Just run your hands through it and then sniff your palms. That smell will give you a sense of uplifting energy and create a calm mood.

Peppermint is a sweet memory for most of us. Luckily it’s easy to keep mint in your workspace to help keep you energized and awake. It can even help with a headache or foggy thinking. A sniff is all it takes.
